How bitcoin started if the only way to get bitcoins is mining, but there wasn't transactions to mine in the beginning?

Couldn't find better wording in the title so sorry if the question is confusing. I searched for some time but didn't find an answer for this question.

How much Bitcoin is enough to start with?

I don’t really know too much about cryptocurrency but have been told to invest into xrp. I have purchased 560XRP for now but is this enough to make a decent amount of money?

Started investing in bitcoin using coin base pro. But as I look more into it most guides recommend storing your currency on an offline ledger or wallet. How do you protect yourself from a flash crash or 20% drop in value if its in a wallet?

Everywhere I see points to not leaving your crypto or cash on an exchange as they can get hacked, or your account can get hacked and your money taken. They recommend you use an offline ledger like the Ledger Nano X as an example, or a digital wallet. This is all fine but how do you protect your bit coin value in the case of a flash crash? Or do you need to choose?
Thanks for all the responses and helping understand :)

I am interested in supporting the adoption of crypto. Thinking of sponsoring a few local bitcoin machines that have decent premiums (rather that the 10%+ I have been seeing). Any leads on how I could get started with this (lower cost devices to utilize with decent owner/operator support)?

This is about more then a couple 100 dollars!

Don't sell hodl! This could be our chance to meme something into existence, just like everything! Don't underestimate the power of the internet!
People acting like this is a scam, no one is saying this is without risk. But whats 25$ risk to making 1000%+ profit. This is how bitcoin started. Although bitcoin went a lot higher no one is asking for Dogecoin to go to $10,000! We can get it to a single dollar! Think about the hype when the news gets wind of 120% profits from a tiktok pump! Why are we holding .0040 we would be treadin water at .0025 is noone care about this! There is tons of volume! There is hundreds of millions of dollars in this coin its not JUST a meme!
I saw a post for a 2.5 million buy earlier which must have netted at least 1.5 mill at the run up there. Big money is here!

In a broad sense, 2020 has been the year of the COVID-19 pandemic. As it charges toward 1 million deaths and over 30 million infections, governments have been found wanting. Our institutions have crumbled, leaders reacted too slowly, and all of the systems both in place and newly created to protect us — healthcare, aged […]
