What if there is a website in combination with an app, where you sign a challenge-nonce with a private key and now you have an account, similar to how SQRL works. On that website, using the app on your phone, you create a 2-of-2-multisig address with the website-host. You then deposit bitcoins in that address. Now if you want to send bitcoins to Bob, something wonderful happens. The website looks up if Bob's address is also associated with their website. If that's not the case, you get asked on your mobile device if you indeed want to send that transaction, you tap the screen or scan another challenge-nonce-QR on the computer-screen, which makes the wallet on the phone sign the transaction and send it, just like any other regular bitcoin-transaction. If it is the case that Bob is also a customer of the website, you again get the option to just send the transaction, like a normal bitcoin on-chain-transaction with a normal market based transaction-fee. But you also get the option to let the website message you again in an hour, or a day, or whatever you opt for. Let's say an hour. An hour passes and what the website does, is collecting all the would-be-transactions to which the senders agreed to be asked again and calculate them against each other, to optimize for fee-reduction. For example, if Alice sends to Bob 1 Bitcoin and Bob sends 1 Bitcoin to Charlie, instead of having 2 transactions, the website makes a new transaction sending 1 Bitcoin from Alice to Charlie. Things along those lines. Another possibility is for the website to communicate with similar other websites if there are transactions between their customers that cancel inputs and outputs out. Maybe there are even more possibilities of how to batch transactions up, or make them cancel each other out to optimize even further. Such service would also instantly probably only need a fraction of the blockspace once Schnorr-signatures are ready. Whatever the fee-reduction is that customers achieve for waiting and being messaged back, is split between all senders and possibly the website-host as a reward. For convenience the wallet can be set up, that if the balance you would have if the new transaction-proposal comes is the same that you anticipated after sending, it automatically agrees and signs. For example, if you had 5 BTC and you want to send 1 BTC + 50k sat fee and an hour later a new transaction proposal comes in after the recipient gets 1 BTC and you end up with 4 BTC - 30k sat fee, it automatically signs the new transaction because it does what you wanted to do in first place. Or you can wait again and make even more optimization possible. There should be some mechanism that makes it possible to get your money out with a normal on-chain transaction, even if the website-host goes offline or is malicious. He can't run with the money, because you have to sign every transaction too, but what if he goes offline? The last transaction that was signed by both can always just go on-chain. The wallet-app stores a copy of the signed transaction, in case the website goes offline while a new optimization waiting round started. Maybe the initial deposit transaction and from then on, every change and fee-reduction bonus transaction, as well as every normal receiving transaction to the multi-sig-address also has some sort of time-out, that if no further transactions from that address are made for the next 5 weeks, all the money goes back to an external address of the customer. So if you think you will be doing at least one transaction a month, this should work. If the website goes offline, the funds are locked for at most 5 weeks, then the refund clause triggers and you get your money back. Is this a good idea?
